Trap: a hybrid with an Appendix I ancestor is not an Appendix II specimen

A hybrid with an ancestor listed under Appendix I is treated as an Appendix I specimen. The European Union traces parentage back four generations. Treating such a hybrid as Appendix II is the most frequent and most costly mistake in a file.

Trap: mismatch between the ring, the transponder and the permit

The closed-ring number, the transponder number and the references shown on the permit must match exactly. Any discrepancy, even a single character, causes a block at inspection and may be treated as an inaccurate declaration.

A stopover outside the declared route can invalidate the health certificate

The actual route must match the one declared on the health documents and on the air waybill. A diversion or an undeclared stopover can invalidate the certificate and hold the bird up on arrival.
